I can hardly believe I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years! It feels like my timeline in my life is B.Y.(before yoga) and A.Y. (after yoga). LOL!! It has forever changed my life! This beautiful gift of yoga has helped me thru 3 pregnancies and births of 3 amazing boys, helped me work thru injuries and recover from surgeries. I have had many tears release onto my mat as I move and breathe thru the difficult times life can throw your way. Time on my mat has also given me such joy and self acceptance.
My passion for sharing yoga in our community makes me smile from the inside out! It makes me SHINE!! As much as I love teaching yogis to do things they could never imagine, I also love teaching and helping beginners as they start their journey. I have had students with me for over 12 years and it has been incredible to witness their practice become their very own.
I invite you to step into your own light and SHINE with us!!

I started practicing yoga because I thought it was a great workout. Eventually, yoga became a lifestyle. I love the way it makes me feel physically, mentally and spiritually. I teach in hopes that people find that same type of connection and love in their own practice.

Ronica started practicing hatha yoga and meditation as a teenager. She had never been to a yoga studio since she learned from reading a yoga book over and over again correcting her poses as she understood the teachings better with time and practice. After nearly three decades of solo yoga, her and her two sons started taking private lessons with Daina Lewis. Her youngest son has autism, Tourette Syndrome, and other conditions including very tight muscles. Yoga and Thai massages really helped him. This piqued her interest in becoming a yoga teacher, but she is also a engineer working full time and wasn’t sure if her schedule would allow her to make the time commitment. And then, her husband was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She needed to take care of herself in order to support him. They agreed it was time for her to sign up for yoga teacher training (YTT) at Shine! YTT made her slow down and focus on her own physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.

Retired classroom teacher finds second calling. That's me! Yoga has been in my life for a long time but I never considered teaching until I took a restorative yoga course. I recognized a need in our community for this type of yoga and, when an opportunity to provide it through Shine arrived, Suzanne Chevalier suggested that we start a class. Seeing how our students have benefited from this practice encourages us to continue to offer it as well as to incorporate it into our gentle classes.
